Unisys India, headquartered in Bangalore, is the Indian subsidiary of Unisys Inc (NYSE:UIS). The company is a global provider of IT services, software, and technologies. Unisys has a market cap $1.32 billion.

Applications are the lifeline of an organization, bringing together different categories of end-users, enabling them to carry out meaningful transactions. They play the mission critical role of linking together different stakeholders of your business. Because of this, IT organizations no longer support just routine functions, they also directly enhance organizational performance while managing costs and end-user expectations. Yet IT environments can be complex. Here, we explore the key challenges that stand in the way of simplifying application management and optimizing how people and their applications use infrastructure.

Managing the Volume of Applications
Anytime, anywhere connectivity through the cloud, social networks and mobile applications, as well as the demand for instant-on, personal choice, and just-in-time capacity is exploding. There are more applications available than ever before --from off-the-shelf apps to mission critical proprietary apps -- all needing to co-exist. Organizations need a partner who is platform and applications agnostic, one who can leverage existing tools, staff, processes, and infrastructure while augmenting it with industry standards and best practices. The answer is not simply whether to add more or to rip-and-replace, but to extract more from fewer, existing applications and to take advantage of emerging application delivery models, such as Cloud and Software as a Service.

Ensuring a Holistic Approach to Security
Guaranteed integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data within shared infrastructures is a top priority. This includes securing information from both internal and external threats. Organizations must ensure they monitor and support all company-provided and employee-owned devices used for work purposes 24x7; they must also proactively identify requirements and vulnerabilities. Because of this, even the internal environment must be treated as hostile territory, by taking a holistic approach to security. This requires securing the user, applications and data -- not just the device, with user authentication, mobile application management technology and data isolation.

Applying Analytics Intelligently
As the scale, complexity, and sheer volume of transactions increase, organizations have begun to rely on analytics to drive effective application usage, continuous process improvements and ultimately optimal application performance. Real-time analytics and intelligence enables IT to see across the entire portfolio, spotting potential issues before they happen, improving the availability of applications to make end users more productive. In essence, intelligent application analytics drives the transformation from mere management of applications to optimizing them.

In Conclusion
Application managed services should operate outside the realm of routine functions to provide real-time, on-demand insights into an organization’s applications estate. It should align IT with business operations and strategy to drive down cost and support organizational goals. And, it should deliver on the promise of an “always-on”, “future-ready” experience for end users.
